robocop
took me a second to realizebut kanye’s semi-new track
samples the title score from great expectations
quite an underrated film
directed by Alfonso CuarĂ³n
i make a pop culture reference at work
falling on confused silence
no one will ever speak the/our language
and now I’m travelling farther onto a road that has less and less language
outside planes rip across the sky
to live and die in LA
sometimes
there is a tragedy in discovering something beautiful alone
to say being solitary is a choice
would be true for me
i write heather two letters
i was on a cruise a couple of weeks ago
to my brother’s wedding
the night after the wedding heather goes to the gym and I was left to myself to read or wander about
i try to read more of Youth in Revolt
but i end up almost crying instead
how stupid of me to try and read this book to begin with*
but i figure i might as well before they cut out the good stuff for the film (to be released in 09 starring Michael Cera as Nick Twisp - how exactly is he supposed to pull off 14???)
From the credits on the imdb page the film might be in semi-decent hands (directed by the director of Chuck and Buck along with interesting casting such as Jean Smart as Mrs. Twisp and Steve Buscemi as George Twisp.)
Made of Honor comes on the in-Boat telescreen network
i’m beginning to realize I have a weakness for genre films**
i am constantly awake with terror that i am in the middle of my timespan
crisis-lifestyle aside
my obsession with film has been reignited by my desire to escape everything at all costs
i plan to live vicariously through films like Code 46 and the recently released
Slumdog Millionaire (http://www.foxsearchlight.com/slumdogmillionaire/)***
i don’t know what else to say right now
i’m glad i’m writing
even though my job is crippling my creative voice on an inch-by-inch, minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour tempo
things i currently enjoy: the comedy of Todd Glass, BBC’s I’m Alan Partridge, and “Magnet” by Yo La Tengo
*=I’ve made it past page 108 now. I seem to only read it whilst on the train, in the bathroom, or on the bus. Secretly hoping some semi-attractive short-haired geek girl with heavy frame and messy bangs notices me and my book. The reality is, nobody cares what youre reading and a title like Youth in Revolt is probably abrasively pretentious to other passengers. Pity.
**=EVIDENCE: I downloaded, watched, and actually enjoyed the film Love and Other Disasters. Maybe I’m biased on this one because it was released by Europa Corp (european film company started by one Luc Besson, idol of my film world)
***=how can you not fall in love with this film prior to seeing it? the trailer boasts both the Ting Tings “Great DJ” followed by Sigur Ros… and all under the direction of Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, The Beach, Shallow Grave, A Life Less Ordinary, Sunshine). I love Danny Boyle.
